About Mark & Janine
Founders Temple of Happiness
Really living my full potential and passing on Tantra is what moves me through life
Mark
I first came into contact with Tantra at the age of 19, through the world of Veeresh and Osho. I walked into an Osho community to dance and unexpectedly found myself being initiated into Tantra by a woman. At the time I was very shy and I stuttered. That first experience opened a door that would continue to shape my life.
In the years that followed, I explored dance, meditation, energetic bodywork and Tantra. Tantra helped me become more confident, embodied and expressive. Living my full potential — and supporting others in discovering theirs — became an important motivation in my life.
I later completed professional training at the Rasayana Academy as a Tantric Bodyworker and continued to deepen my practice through training with Nirav Beej (Tantra Temple) and in Tantra Kriya Yoga with Anand Rudra.
Janine and I started working together in 2013. During the many years that we also shared our lives as partners, we followed trainings together and developed and facilitated countless Tantra workshops, courses, retreats and private sessions.
Although our personal relationship has since changed, our professional collaboration continues. We know each other and each other’s way of working extremely well, and still enjoy working together for selected massages, couples sessions, private lessons and workshops.
Alongside this work, I work professionally as a massage therapist at Sauna van Egmond in Haarlem, where Janine and I are also colleagues.
Tantra, bodywork and conscious movement remain at the heart of my work: bringing awareness into the body, allowing energy to move and helping people experience more freedom, connection and aliveness.
For me, Tantra is ultimately about remembering who we truly are. I try to live from that place myself, and to help others rediscover the freedom and wholeness that is already within them.
Janine
After studying law and working for the Dutch government for thirteen years, I felt an increasing longing to live more freely and closer to my true nature. Through the Empowerment work of David Gershon and Gail Straub, I learned to approach life from vision and possibility rather than from problems and limitations. Around the age of 35, I left my government career and started working as a coach and trainer.
My path into Tantra began around 2006 through a deeply personal experience. I met a man with whom I discovered a connection that seemed to go far beyond the physical. During an intimate moment, I experienced the space around us as filled with golden light. We also discovered that we could connect very strongly on an energetic level, without physical contact.
It changed my understanding of intimacy and sexuality. I realised that sexuality could open into something much larger: an experience of energy, expanded awareness, wholeness and unity. Looking back, I recognise this as my first experience of non-duality.
Tantra gradually became an important part of my life and work. For many years, however, I mainly understood it through sacred sexuality, intimacy and relationships.
From 2018 onwards, two years of intensive training with Tantra Temple brought another important shift. I discovered Tantra as a much broader path of awareness, in which sexuality can have a place but is certainly not the essence. This allowed me to integrate my earlier experience in coaching, empowerment, emotional work and bodywork into my own approach to Tantra.
For more than thirteen years I have worked professionally with Tantra and bodywork, with individuals, couples and groups. Together with Mark, I have facilitated countless workshops, courses, retreats and private sessions.
For many years I was also the founder and driving force behind Temple of Happiness, a vibrant centre in Amsterdam. In 2026, I chose to let go of the large venue and return to a smaller, more personal way of working.
Today, Temple of Happiness continues as my practice for massage, Tantra, coaching, couples work and intimate small-group workshops.
